When I started with Astro Aerospace the engineering team was working with old versions of SolidWorks and COSMOS. Hawk Ridge Systems stepped up with training support and helped us transition to the current versions and SolidWorks PDM which improved our productivity.

News: Critical Hotfix for Customers Using PhotoWorks on 64-bit versions of SolidWorks 2009 SP5.0, 2010 Sp1.0 or 2010 Sp2.0

For customers using PhotoWorks on 64-bit versions of SolidWorks 2009 SP5, SolidWorks 2010 SP1 or 2010 SP2, Hawk Ridge Systems Technical Support strongly advises applying the hotfix detailed below in response to SPR 535417. In addition to the release of this hotfix, these versions have been temporarily removed from the SolidWorks Downloads page but will be replaced with a newer service pack which includes the hotfix within the next couple weeks. Please check the SolidWorks Download page for availability and upgrade at your convenience once it is available. It should be noted that upgrading to the new service pack when it is available is not be a required action as long as the hotfix is applied but you may benefit from other SPRs that are listed on the SolidWorks Downloads page as fixed in that service pack.

Customers using 32-bit versions of SolidWorks, the 64-bit version of SolidWorks 2010 SP0.0 or 64-bit versions prior to SolidWorks 2009 Sp5.0 are not affected and can dismiss this notification.

Hotfix Details

A PhotoWorks issue has been identified in 64-bit operating system versions with SolidWorks 2009 SP5, SolidWorks 2010 SP1, and SolidWorks 2010 SP2. The SolidWorks installation, operating system, program files, and data files may become damaged or unrecoverable if the PhotoWorks add-in is enabled when SolidWorks is running and the SolidWorks process is already using more than 2GB of virtual memory. See SolidWorks Technical Alerts for further details. Please note also that this issue only pertains to enabling the PhotoWorks add-in and has no effect on the use of PhotoView 360 for renderings. Please see the installation instructions below to apply the hotfix:

1) Shut down SolidWorks, reboot your computer and login as an administrator. Verify that SolidWorks is not running before moving to the next step.

2) Select the version to start the hotfix download and installation process:

    - SolidWorks 2009 SP5

    - SolidWorks 2010 SP1

    - SolidWorks 2010 SP2

3) Select whether Run or Save the hotfix. Use Save if you are applying the hotfix to more than one computer.

4) Select Run to extract the hotfix.

5) Select Run to accept the warning.

6) Unzip the files and the hotfix will be applied.

7) Patch complete. If you do not get this confirmation message, check to see if you have selected the correct hotfix for your installed version of SolidWorks and retry the patch process. If that does not resolve the problem contact Hawk Ridge Systems Technical Support at http://www.hawkridgesys.com/support/.

Note: You will need to uninstall this patch before applying any future versions or service packs.
