News: SolidWorks 2012 Released

For all customers entitled to SolidWorks 2012 products, installation files are now available for download from the SolidWorks Customer Portal. Installation DVDs will begin shipping in November and should arrive by early December. For any questions about your version eligibility or if you are interested in adding subscription service to be entitled to the 2012 version, please contact your local sales representative or our general sales team at 1-877-266-4469 in the US or 1-866-587-6803 in Canada.

Important Notes About the 2012 Suite of SolidWorks Products:

• Product Information:
  • 2012 EPDM CAD Editor licenses now include access to the EPDM Web Client.
  • 2012 EPDM Web Server is now supported on both 32 and 64 bit operating systems.
  • 2012 Toolbox Upgrade - Known Issues:
    • Operating systems using commas as the decimal symbol will result in unusable Toolbox parts.
    • Custom part number and description information is not visible via SolidWorks interfaces and appear missing.
    • These issues will be addressed in the subsequent SolidWorks 2012 Service Pack. We encourage users who are likely to be impacted to consider waiting until the next Service Pack is available before upgrading.
• System Requirements:
  SolidWorks 2012 will be the final version supported on Microsoft Windows XP. More details can be found in the Hawk Ridge Systems Recommended Hardware Guidelines.

Hawk Ridge Systems actively participated with Pre-Release Programs and have no reports of major issues. As such, Hawk Ridge Systems recommends that customers who are ready to migrate to 2012 begin testing and implementing to take advantage of the many enhanced features in 2012. However, as with every major release, Hawk Ridge Systems recommends caution when implementing new software for production use and highly recommends that customers backup and test their data prior to full implementation.

To assist users upgrading to the 2012 version, Hawk Ridge Systems has created new eSupport content on upgrade preparation and procedures, licensing, registration, and new features in the 2012 versions. Once logged into eSupport, use the search term 2012 to access this content. Check back often as content is constantly being added and updated.
