What is Data Management?

When we talk about Data Management we are referring to a suite of products that are designed to help you store, re-user and track all your Engineering data. This includes your CAD data was well as any other files relating to your process.

Why do I need Data Management?

In the ever expanding world of CAD it is becoming harder and harder to control your data in a traditional folder based system because of all the links and references between files.  In doing it this way you end up with a large amount of folder in order to track older revisions and this leaves the potential for files to be confused with older versions. This method also makes it very hard to search for files that you may want to re-use in a newer project and it makes it almost impossible to assure people are always working with the latest data. This is where a Data Management tool becomes a life saver. By storing all your files in one location and letting the system manage the rest the user is presented with a much more efficient way of find and editing data. Searches are faster, company processes are followed more accurately and information is quickly viewable to anyone who needs it. On top of that, our products understand the reference between your CAD files so no longer do you have to worry about renaming a file or moving it to a different folder and how that may affect the links.

What products do you offer?

Here at Hawk Ridge Systems we offer two fantastic Data Management tools:

Solidworks Workgroup PDM: This is an entry level solution into the Data Management world which allows you to Vault and revision control all of your CAD data and other files. This tool provides secure access to those files and makes searching very easy, as well as having a great interface into SolidWorks.

Solidworks Enterprise PDM: This is an incredibly robust and configurable tool that is also very easy to use. Along with providing the vaulting and revision control capabilities of its Workgroup counterpart it adds faster and more robust searching, a simple user interface, multiple location data synchronization, automated process control and so much more. The best part is that this tool is very scalable so it can grow with you!
