Webinar Wednesday - 2017/05/03 SOLIDWORKS Composer is a powerful tool for utilizing 3D CAD assets for documentation, animation, and other visual deliverables, and that can be made even more powerful, by performing some basic preparation steps to your CAD geometry. Join us for our second installment of the Composer Core Concepts Series; we are going to cover in detail the best practices for what to do with your models after they have been imported into Composer. There are a few critical steps you may not be aware of that will save you hours when it’s time to put together your Composer technical documentation.
Join us for an introduction to using SOLIDWORKS Electrical design software for consumer product design. See how you can easily create line/schematic diagrams, populate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and wire lists with minimal clicks. We will also go over automated 3D routing of wires and cables in SOLIDWORKS with full, bi-directional real-time linking between 2D schematics and 3D model data. The automation and intelligence provided by SOLIDWORKS Electrical can change the way you create and update electrical schematics forever.
New York-based healthcare provider Northwell Health has provided Marine Corps veteran Dan Lasko with what could be the world’s first 3D printed amphibious prosthetic leg. “The Fin” allows amputees like Lasko to both walk and swim without switching prostheses. We’ll present an introduction to using SOLIDWORKS PCB to design schematics and printed circuit board layouts. Design your PCB schematic from scratch, then easily create all the documentation necessary to have printed circuit boards manufactured and assembled. We will also take a look at our seamless collaboration with SOLIDWORKS, allowing you to get your PCB assembly completely in sync with your mechanical design – as well as showcasing the PCB Connector - designed specifically for existing users of Altium.
Do you need more than one material to make your next great design? Many of our SOLIDWORKS customers are considering Plastics with its Insert Overmolding capabilities to utilize more than 2 materials to create breakthrough designs. SOLIDWORKS Plastics includes the capabilities needed to optimize the part and mold design for some products, ensuring sufficient bonding and high part quality. Join us for an overview of the capabilities that make SOLIDWORKS Plastics a vital tool for part and mold design.
Give your customers the interactive marketing experience that will differentiate you from your competition. Using photo-realistic and interactive content - put your products "virtually" in your customer's hands. Join us March 29 for a unique look at how, when leveraged correctly, the interactive technical content from Composer accompanied by the photo-realistic content from Visualize becomes a truly unstoppable force. Product Manager, Scott Woods, will show you how to create top quality marketing content quickly and easily.
Did you know that you are entitled to free Certification Vouchers with your SolidWorks Subscription? As long as you are on subscription you are entitled to request vouchers twice every year, once in the first half of the year (Jan 1st-June 30th) and one in the second half (July 1st – Dec 31st). To get your free vouchers you just need to head over to the SolidWorks website and follow the steps in this video. -- Presented by Sean Marrs
Wouldn't it be nice to update drawing watermarks or other SOLIDWORKS properties automatically when you finish your design? What if you could automate some of your documentation processes with Engineering Change Orders or Specifications documents? Join us for this webinar, when we’ll show you how to do just that. Whether it's Custom Properties for SOLIDWORKS files or Microsoft Office documents, we'll teach you how to make those connections so you can spend less time documenting and more time designing.
NESTINGWorks optimizes sheet metal and flat stock designs directly in the SOLIDWORKS Environment - no need to switch programs, work in a program you are already familiar with. NESTINGWorks enables true shape nesting, part-in-part nesting and the auto layout of parts of varying thickness, while being completely associative with the original SOLIDWORKS models. Product Manager, Tim Fulton will demonstrate the industry-leading capabilities and ease-of-use that helps you optimize your material usage and save money! Register for our webinar today.
Many times a drawing view must be created that is not part of the available standard views. The relative view command allows you to use faces or planes in your model to define a specific orientation. This is a great way to create views normal to angled faces of your model that you may need to dimension out or show detail on without having to have the reference drawing view that an auxiliary view requires. In modern design it’s important to keep track of any important data or documentation, however it is often easy to misplace a particular file on your computer. With the use of Design Binders in your SOLIDWORKS projects you can help prevent misplaced or lost information. Design binders give you the ability to link any important design or documentation data directly to the part or assembly file in which the data is needed. Design Binders can be accessed directly from your FeatureManager Design Tree. If the Design Binder folder does not automatically appear, you will first have to go into your system options to turn it on.
SOLIDWORKS has two robust data management solutions to help manage your critical engineering data - SOLIDWORKS PDM Standard (included with every license of SOLIDWORKS Professional and Premium) and SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional (formerly Enterprise PDM). Attend this webinar to learn about the features and benefits of each solution so you can decide which system is the right fit for you, and see how SOLIDWORKS data management tools can save you time and money by streamlining your engineering workflows.
Accelerating the design of complex assemblies and improving large assembly performance was a major theme in the development of SOLIDWORKS 2017. Some new tools include Magnetic Mates to assist with facility layouts and Convert to Bodies to simplify parts to be used in large assemblies. Some great enhancements have also been made to several Mates, the Mate Controller, and SpeedPak, as well as the User Interface to make the process of assembling components faster. Join us to see some great new enhancements for 2017 and how you can simplify assembly design with these easy-to-use tools to create, manage, and visualize large and complex designs.
Knurling is a type of surface finish commonly desired on precision tools and other instances where additional hand grip is required on a machined part. In practice, knurling is achieved by pressing a dedicated knurling tool into the rotating workpiece. For this reason, it may not be necessary for manufacturing purposes to model the knurling explicitly in CAD- many times a simple callout on a drawing for a knurled surface may suffice. -- Presented by Ryan Navarro
Are you currently using Workgroup PDM to control and manage your SOLIDWORKS data? Did you know that SOLIDWORKS 2017 is the last release to include Workgroup PDM? Are you wondering how to move that data to SQL database-driven SOLIDWORKS PDM Standard or Professional before SOLIDWORKS 2018 is released and Workgroup PDM is no longer available? Watch this webinar to learn how to migrate data from Workgroup PDM to a SOLIDWORKS PDM system, and how to plan your SOLIDWORKS data management strategy moving forward.
